Good Morning Newberry family and HAPPY WEDNESDAY!

I pray that all of you are well and have everything you need. If not, please let me know. I will handle requests on an individual basis.

Please continue to pray for one another and all those that are struggling through this pandemic.

Few announcements: CHURCH IS NOT CLOSED, JUST LEARNING TO DO IT DIFFERENTLY!

Thank you to everyone who is supporting the ministry of the church through your prayers, financial support and volunteering when given an opportunity. If you want to help, you can donate through our web site: Newberryumc.org or mail it to Newberry UMC, PO Box 475, Newberry, Fl. 32669

If you have any special prayer requests, email them to me and I will be happy to pray for you and yours.

Prayer Requests: Please pray for Kit Mason’s brother, Don, and the family, as he has bladder cancer and been placed under palliative care.

WATERMELON FESTIVAL: will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2020 at the Country Way Town Center from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. It is a lot of fun and we will be sure to stay safe with masks and distancing. If you’d like to volunteer to help sit at the booth, please call or text Joy Glanzer at 325-665-3534 or email at joyglanzer@cox.net. Thank you in advance for your help. Our church also CUTS all the watermelon for this great event – let Pastor Karen know if you would like to help cut.

Today’s Devotional

Mark 4:30-34 NIV

30 Again he said, “What shall we say the kingdom of God is like, or what parable shall we use to describe it? 31 It is like a mustard seed, which is the smallest of all seeds on earth. 32 Yet when planted, it grows and becomes the largest of all garden plants, with such big branches that the birds can perch in its shade.”

33 With many similar parables Jesus spoke the word to them, as much as they could understand. 34 He did not say anything to them without using a parable. But when he was alone with his own disciples, he explained everything!

Close to 100 years ago an unknown American inventor, born of Russian descent named Vladimir Kosma Zworykin began to work for the Westinghouse Electric Corporation. Over the next few years Mr. Zworykin worked on an idea called an iconoscope and a kinescope. The kinescope would eventually come to be known as the Cathode Ray Tube and in 1929, Mr. Zworykin revealed his great invention to whole world in a publicized demonstration. The iconoscope became the TV Camera for broadcasting and the Cathode Ray Tube became our TV Receiver. All of this came about because of the small seed of an idea in the mind of one man. Now, because of that idea, we all sit and watch “in the branches” of the “tree” that grew from that small mustard seed.

As you can see, from the small seed of an idea great things can grow. It is the same with your faith in God and with the presence of the Kingdom of God within your heart.

What seed has God planted in your heart that He wants to see grow?

Let us pray…

Lord, you plant ideas and give us all we need to see them to fulfilment. Give us courage, wisdom, and hope to see your Kingdom come on this earth and in our hearts. Amen.

HAVE A BLESSED and PEACE FILLED DAY!

Pastor Karen
